Class IV laser therapy.

What Is Laser Therapy?

Laser is the acronym of Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Laser therapy is a physical therapy that uses light energy to accelerate the body's natural healing processes. Laser therapy is non-invasive and non-painful and it can be used for pain, inflammation, oedema, wounds and ulcers.

We can treat the foot, ankle and the lower limb. Laser is helpful for:

*haematoma (bruising)
*swelling (oedema)
*sprains and strains e.g. pain and swelling after ankle sprains
*osteoarthritis foot pain
*tendonitis, including Achilles tendonitis
*plantar fasciitis
*sports injuries

Laser therapy can be carried out on most people, including children. However, laser cannot be used on individuals who:

*have cancer
*are under 16 years of age and the area to be treated is over a growth plate (assessment can be given)
*are pregnant

If you are unsure if laser is safe or appropriate for you, please get in touch using our contact form and we can discuss this with you.

How many sessions will I need?

It's hard to say for sure how many sessions an individual may need. You may well notice an improvement after your first session or you may require a few more. Most of our patients notice a significant improvement by their 4th session, but some people need less and some people need more.
